iPhone Dev team has released the first Beta of Redsn0w 0.9.6, which basically jailbreaks iOS 4.0/4.1 based iPod Touch 2G and iPhone 3G.

Requirements:

• iOS 4.1
• iTunes 10
• Redsn0w 0.9.6 Beta 1

Steps to follow:
1. Download Redsn0w 0.9.6 Beta 1 from above link and open it on your computer.
2. Make sure you have updated your iPod Touch 2G/ iPhone 3G to iOS 4.1.
3. Now, select your stock firmware from the computer.
4. Select “Install Cydia” option and click “Next”.
5. Use DFU method (Power+Home button) to install Redsn0w 0.9.6.
6. Once you’re done, wait for the tool to jailbreak your iDevice.
