According to a report from GigaOM, Currently Apple is working on a universal iPhone SIM card which would allow them to go around the carriers and sell all future iPhones through their online store and through Apple retail locations.

According to GigaOM, this universal SIM card wouldn’t work in the US currently. It would be available only for Europoean market and it will allow customers to keep the same SIM card whether they are on same carrier or not. Stay tuned with us for more updates.
