0 Apple Special Event September1, 2010 in San Francisco Part 5

“There must be a better way.” Apple is announcing Ping. Ping is a social network for music.

Another thing they’re focusing on is discovery. How do you find out about new stuff? “What are my friends listening to? What are my favorite artists up to? What concerts are my friends going to? I’ve got to share this with my friends!”

A new view is Hybrid view, which shows you album art, in your list view, if you have > 5 songs from 1 album.

“We’ve made it even more elegant and simple.”

They’re ditching the CD in the logo and just having it be a circle with music notes inside.

What’s today? iTunes 10. They’re changing the logo.

“It’s the number one online media store in the world.”

Apple is about to cross the 12 billion song mark. They’ve sold 450 million TV episodes, 100 million movies, 5 million books and have a total of 160 million accounts.

And now, iTunes.

“The strongest lineup of new iPods we’ve ever had. We are really excited when people get their hands on it starting next week.”

Second is an iPod touch ad that shows gaming, video recording plus FaceTime.

First is an iPod nano one showing off how there’s a screen, and you can clip it to your clothes.
