0 Apple Music Event Round Up

As expected, Apple has updated its iPod lineup in today’s special music event. The event kick started with Steve Jobs’ keynote and he revealed new iPods and other products/services for this season.
Today, the company has announced iOS 4.1, new iPod Shuffle, iPod Nano, iPod Touch 4, iTunes 10 and 2nd version of Apple TV. Let’s have a look at the details of these cool products.

iOS 4.1

iOS 4.1
iOS 4.1 fixes the much talked about Proximity sensor, Bluetooth bugs and performance issues in iPhone 3G. It includes new features such as high dynamic range photos and game center. The new update will be out in the next week.
Apple has also announced iOS 4.2 today, which will be available for iPads too. It will be released in November 2010.

iTunes 10

iTunes 10
iTunes 10 is now available for download at Apple’s official website. Along with the new version of iTunes, Apple has unveiled its new Social Music service, Ping, for music lovers. This service acts similarly to other social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook; the only difference is that it is dedicated to music. For more information, download iTunes 10 and try Ping service.

New iPod Shuffle

Apple has updated its old shuffle iPod and now it has VoiceOver and playlists features. It will have 2GB of memory space and 15 hours of music. The new iPod shuffle will be available in 5 colors.

New iPod Nano

Well, this is something new for all iPod lovers. Apple has added multi-touch user interface in their new iPod Nano, which basically means a cool way to navigate your music library on 6th generation Nano iPod.
New iPod Nano will feature Hard volume buttons, VoiceOver, FM radio, Nike+, pedometer, and supports 24 languages. The Apple team has worked on the design of iPod Nano, and the latest design is 46% smaller and 42% lighter than its predecessor. On top of that it will play 24 hours of music. That’s cool!
iPod Nano 6th generation will be available in 7 different colors. Let’s look at the price structure below.

New iPod Touch

iPod Touch
The 4th generation iPod Touch was almost certain to come out in today’s event. So, Apple announced the new iPod Touch. Finally, Apple team has added camera to their iPod Touch; it has a front facing camera for Face Time and rear camera for HD video recording.
New iPod Touch will have Apple A4 chip, retina display, 3-axis gyro and iOS 4.1 with Game Center. It will be available in stores next week; pre-orders begin today.

  • iPod Touch  32 GB – $299
  • iPod Touch  64 GB – $399
So, that’s about the new iPods lineup!

New Apple TV

After 4 unsuccessful years, Apple has introduced the 2nd version of its Apple TV. They have made lots of changes in the hardware and software, which anyone can see in the following image.

Apple TV will not have a storage disk. Everything will be streamed to the device so that there will be no need of an extra hardware. It supports full HD content i.e. HD movies and HD TV shows. It can also play videos from third part services like Netflix, YouTube etc.
The new Apple TV serves ‘Ads free’ TV shows at $0.99 rental price and first-run movies can be watched at $4.99.

Apple’s special music event concluded with the song of 7 Grammy award winner Chris Martin.
So what are you going to purchase from these products? As far as my choice is concerned, I’m planning to get iPod Touch 4 16GB later this year.
P.S.: iPhone and iPod Touch jailbreakers should stay away from iTunes 10 and upcoming iOS 4.1 update.
