HP is planning a tablet computer that will be running palm’s web based operating system. If you remember the first smartphone called the Palm Pre was launched with the webOS in June 2009, which actually won a lot of kudos.
That smartphone was basically for the integration for social networking and Web 2.0 – and this is something that HP aiming for in their tablet computer maybe at a wider or more user-friendly scale.

“You’ll see us with a Microsoft product [running Windows 7] in the near future, and a web OS-based product in early 2011,” said Todd Bradley, head of HP’s personal systems group, during the company’s quarterly earnings call.
HP said that tablet computers based on Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system would be aimed at enterprise users, while webOS-based devices would be better suited to consumers. It’s quite obvious that they are referring to the excellent social networking integration of the web OS. The computer company has also said that it will use webOS to power a range of smartphones, netbooks, and internet-enabled printers and rightly so because the true capabilities of the OS will only be discovered when the device is used with an internet integration.
The webOS includes a feature called Synergy that integrates information from many sources. webOS allows a user to sign in to accounts on Gmail, Yahoo!, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Microsoft Outlook (via Exchange ActiveSync). Contacts from all sources are then integrated into a single list.
It seems that HP is using is using its resources pretty wisely but will it be able to cause another revolution in the Tablet computer market still remains to be seen. What do you think the HP brand combined with the Palm OS are enough to throw Apple iPad off the thrown do let us know in the comments section below.
